My Favorite Item in My Closet: Part 1

I have decided to every couple of months, write about my favorite item of clothing or jewelry in my closet at the moment. This month, it's the Lucky Streak Charm bracelet by Kate Spade. http://www.katespade.com/lucky-streak-charm-bracelet/WBRU9412,en_US,pd.html?pid=WBRU9412
Which, if you look closely enough, Karlie Kloss is wearing in her Kate Spade Vogue ad.
Yeah, you really gotta squint at that one. Anyways, it is so cute and blinged out, I just love it! It features a 12 karot gold plated chain and charms, and the charms are: a dollar sign, a camera, a red heart, a feather, a spade (obviously), a tiger, red lips, dice, a shoe, a diamond, and a gem encrusted ball. All in all, it's a beautiful jewelry peice that compliments my uptown style in a easy and sophisticated way.

P.S. Shoutout to my beautiful grandmother for giving this to me! I love you!

How To Survive a Long Car Trip

Hi everyone! I hope you are having an awesome spring break and living it up in Mexico or someplace else hot! I am currently visiting my grandparents in Florida, which, for a Ontario girl like me, was just about a 24 hour drive. So, in lieu of my Car Ride From Hell I have decided to give you all some tips on surviving a long car trip.

1. Eat Healthy. Or at least try. Pack your own snacks in a small cooler for the first leg, I like apples, turkey bite sticks and kettle cooked chips. You will feel a million times better then eating Mc D's for the entire trip. But, it's okay to hit one or two Taco Bell's (or whatever other fast food place you have a guilty pleasure for) on the way, it's a vacation, after all.

2. Keep a hairbrush handy. I'm going to be completely honest, you will look like hell once you get out of that car to greet society. Also, never underestimate the power of a little concealer, mascara and lipstick.

3.  Wear comfy, layered clothes. You do not want to be sitting in a hot car in super tight skinny jeans and your best silk blouse. Instead, opt for a pair of cotton harem pants in a quirky pattern, or some cute leggings and a tunic top or a cute concert tee. Also, a nice cashmere sweater can add a little luxury to your car trip, and it's SO SOFT!

4. Plan your stops. Now this one can be tricky, it's not like you know exactly when your bladder is going to be full, but at least loosely plan your hotels or resturaunts.

5. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Not only does drinking water give you energy, it keeps your skin looking fresh and rosy, even if you have been up for 15 hours straight driving in the middle of God Knows Where, at least you'll look purdy.

Working Out On A Busy Schedule

We all want to be that one woman with the perfect, movie star body, but we all don't have time to spend 18 hours a week at the gym! Here is how to be fit and healthy while on a busy schedule.

1. Try workout DVD's like Jillian Michaels or The Tracy Anderson Method (both available on Amazon.com) they offer full body workouts in only 10 minutes, so even if you have a early morning meeting or a evening event you can find time to workout.

2. If you want an even quicker workout, try workout apps like 7 Minute Workout (available on the App Store) it offers a full cardio workout in just 7 minutes!

3. Just take the stairs! I cannot stress this enough, just walk or bike to wherever you are going. It is a greener option then driving and gives you a free workout!

4. Try a workout band like the Fitbit Flex ($99.99 on Amazon.com) it tells you all the steps you take in a day, the calories you burn and even how you sleep! I personally have this band and I am loving it, it is completely waterproof so you never have to take it off and it is like a personal trainer on your wrist, plus it synchs wirelessly with your phone or computer. There are also other popular bands like the Jawbone Up ($ 149.00 on Amazon.com)

5. Do yoga! It has so many health benefits and stretching your muscles gives you a leaner appearance and makes you seem more toned.

6. Drink up! Drinking water busts bloat and makes your belly seem smaller. For a real metabolism kick, put a slice of lemon and ginger in your water.

7. Last but not least, don't make excuses, if you have a free 20 minutes, use them! Don't let stupid little things keep you from reaching your goal!

Wow, I haven't posted in a really long time. The warm weather is here and I couldn't be happier! So I've decided to put together an outfit with some of my new summer purchases! This outfit has a very glamorous nod to the 50's, my personal favorite era. Also I'm doing some more creative editing with my photos to give them more creative flair! Enjoy!

Packing Tips: Glamour On The Go

I'm going to start by putting it right out there, I am a major overpacker! When I'm on vacation I usually just wear shorts, crop tops, bathing suits and sundresses. But usually I have waaaaay more then what I really need. So in this post I've rounded up some tips on how to "detox" the clothing you bring to your relaxing, stylish vacation, wherever it may be.

1: Check the weather. You don't want to pack shorts and a t-shirt if it's going to be 10 degrees! Also always pack a few warmer items, because you never know what could happen!

2: Only pack what you need. Yes, you can live without a third pair of Versace heels! (Or Kohls heels, if your me). If you really need to cut down use the 5,4,3,2,1 rule. 5 tops, 4 bottoms, 3 accessories, 2 pairs of shoes and 1 bathing suit (but if you are just starting on your clothing detox, you can double these stats)

3: Will you be shopping? Ask yourself this, or pack an extra suitcase, because let me tell you, there are some kick-ass sales abroad! I'm going to promise you, you will need to buy an extra bag to carry all that fab! So please, do not over pack for this reason!

4: Do your research! What activities will you be doing? Hiking? Canoeing? Or just lounging by the pool? Always pack according to your plans. That sounds so obvious but you would be surprised by the amount of people that arrive at a destination totally unprepared.

Useful Tidpits

-Roll your clothes! It saves soooo much space.

-Please don't wear a sweatsuit! Please, please try to put a little effort in, even just trade the sweatshirt for a blazer or even a chunky knit sweater. Because if there is a girl in a j-crew blazer and a girl with "Canadian Eh?" Sweater on, guess who is getting the upgrade.

-Pack liquid or cream items in a towel in case they get cracked or spill.

-Remember to pack base items. Tanks, tee's and jeans are all great, also lot's of undergarments, they are hard to buy in the Zimbabwe airport!

-Also double the use of your beauty items. Lipstick can also be used as cream blush and bronzer can be used as a copper or nude shimmer eyeshadow. Also cream eyeshadow in a champagne or white can be used as a hi lighter.
